When the Light Feels Far
Let’s be honest — the spiritual path isn’t always a glowing, incense-lit highlight reel. Sometimes, it’s messy. It’s heavy. And sometimes, it’s lonely.
For many of us walking a spiritual path — tuned into our soul, the Earth, and the unseen — we find ourselves feeling things… a little deeper. There’s joy, yes, and magic. But also waves of sadness, anxiety, or even depression that seem to creep in from nowhere. Or everywhere.
I’ve noticed this pattern in myself, and in others who are also walking consciously — the more we awaken, the more intense life can feel. I’ve come to believe this isn’t a coincidence. It’s a spiritual signal.
The Sacred Weight of Sensitivity
Spirituality opens the senses. We don’t just see more, we feel more.
We become more aware of the beauty in the world — the synchronicities, the love, the healing — but also more attuned to what’s off in the collective: the injustice, the noise, the disconnect, the ache in the Earth. And when you're empathic or intuitive, that stuff doesn’t just pass by — it enters your system like static.
It can be overwhelming.
It can lead to burnout.
And yes, it can feel like depression.
But this doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. In fact, it may mean you’re tuned in exactly right.
Let’s Talk About the Myth of the “Always High Vibe” Spiritual Being
There’s this strange expectation — especially online — that if you’re spiritual, you should be radiating joy, light, and 5D love all day every day. That if you’re sad, heavy, or low… you must be “out of alignment.”
That’s spiritual bypassing, and it’s dangerous.
The truth is: enlightenment doesn’t exempt you from emotion — it invites you deeper into it.
We weren’t given sensitivity and depth to suppress them. We were given them to transmute, to understand, and to guide others home through it. The sadness you feel? The overwhelm? The moments where your soul feels heavy in this world? That’s not failure. It’s feedback. And it’s sacred.
My Own Journey Through This
There have been moments where I’ve felt low, disconnected, unsure why — but when I zoom out, I can almost always trace it to an energetic shift. A collective heaviness. Or the fact that I’m in a season of deep internal clearing, shedding, or receiving.
It’s taken time, compassion, and practice for me to accept that this is part of my gift — not a glitch. I’ve realised that my ability to feel deeply is also my ability to connect, to create, to offer, and to hold space — for myself, for others, and for the journey.
Some Things That Help
Here are some things that support me when I’m in the low waves:

Grounding practices — even if it’s just putting my bare feet on the earth, drinking warm herbal tea, or dancing to one tune I love.

Creative expression — writing, drawing, speaking to the page without judgement.

Being witnessed — whether by a loved one, a therapist, a guide, or even my journal. Just naming what I’m feeling is sometimes enough.

Energetic hygiene — cleansing baths, smoke rituals, sound, and turning off the noise.

Soft structure — reminders to eat well, hydrate, and speak kindly to myself.

Giving myself permission to be where I am without rushing to ‘fix’ it.
To You, the One Who Feels It All
If you’ve ever felt low, heavy, or hollow and wondered why — please know you’re not alone. You are not broken. You are not failing. You’re just awake in a world that’s still learning how to be.
Feeling deeply is not your curse — it’s your compass.
You’re not here to carry it all alone — you’re here to remember that even in the shadows, you are sacred.
